FOSS4G 2023 has gathered about 1000 developers, users, decision-makers, and observers from a broad spectrum of organizations and fields of operation from all over the world.

Organized for the first time in Kosovo, FOSS4G will be presented through 80 workshops, 200 presentations, discussions, and exhibitions. FOSS4G participants are expected to create effective and relevant geospatial products, standards, and protocols. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to learn about managing their geospatial data with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, get introduced to GeoServer, learn how to do GeoSpatial with Python, learn how to set up a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) with Open-Source Software using OSGeoLive, and many more.

Some of the key speakers are well known professionals from the field, such as: Bonny McClain, a self-described human geographer, and a social anthropologist, Said Turksever, a Community Project Manager at Meta and a Geomatic Engineer, Miriam Gonzalez, a co-founder of Geochicas,  Marco Bernasocchi, CEO of OPENGIS.ch, an open-source advocate and entrepreneur and a full-stack geoninja, Jan Burdziej, Ph.D. in Geography and a Geospatial Lead at UNICEF Frontier Data & Tech Unit, and Dr. Lorik Haxhiu, a Kosovo expert in energy and natural resource sectors.

The speakers will cover diverse topics, mostly related to the use of geospatial data in optimizing the relevant resources and shaping a better world.

FOSS4G is an annual event, organized by the Open-Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). This year, FOSS4G 2023, is organized by the Kosovar organization FLOSSK, who promotes and develops free and open-source software.  

FOSS4G2023 is supported by Kosovo and German Governments, implemented by GIZ Kosovo and ITP Prizren.
