For the first time in the history of the country, annual global conference DebConf is being organized in Innovation and Training Park of Prizren
Free Libre Open Source Software Kosova (FLOSSK) and ITP Prizren signed a memorandum of cooperation, to host the international developer camp and conference DebConf22, organised by The Debian Project and for which FLOSSK is local organiser, at the Innovation and Training Park (ITP) Prizren, to be held on 10-24 July 2022.
FLOSSK and ITP Prizren agreed to exchange experts and their experiences in certain fields for the needs of DebConf22, use ITP infrastructure, classrooms, amphitheatres, accommodation buildings and other facilities.
The Debian developers conference, known as DebConf is a yearly conference where developers of the Debian operating system meet to discuss further development of the system. In addition to a full schedule of technical, social and policy talks, DebConf provides an opportunity for developers, contributors and other interested people to meet in person and work together more closely. It has taken place since 2000 in locations as varied as Canada, Finland and Mexico.
The last physical DebConf, gathered around 400 participants from more than 50 countries, while this year, Kosovo is expecting up to 500 participants from all over the world.
Beside the importance for developers to meet and exchange, DebConf22 is also a great opportunity on Kosovo’s exposure among global IT community.
DebConf22 is supported by the German Government and implemented by GIZ/ITP Prizren.
