The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a public-benefit federal enterprise for international cooperation. We work as a federal enterprise under private law. Our aim is to achieve the development-policy objective of improving the living conditions of people worldwide and conserving the natural resources on which livelihoods depend.
The GIZ website draws on the services of an external contractor for data processing. The processor’s contact details can be found in the website’s required legal notice.
This websites applies cookies, small text files that are stored locally in your browser cache. Cookies collect information about user behaviour on the site, including the abbreviated IP address of the device being used, and send it to the server. The server anonymises the information and stores it for the purpose of analysing user behaviour. The state of current technology ensures that once information has been anonymised, it can no longer be traced back to the originating device or connection. Information produced by cookies is shared only with the contractor, but never with third parties.
Data is processed based on Art. 6 paragraph 1 f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with the legitimate interest of analysing usage to improve the company’s website. You have the right to object to the processing of your user data for the purpose of user behaviour analysis.
When you use the contact form (Indication of Interest), we process your title, first and last names, email address and, where appropriate, your postal address. The data is processed based on Art. 6 (1 b) of the EU GDPR for the purpose of receiving the query formulated in the contact form.
Data is transmitted to GIZ using an SSL-encrypted connection, which makes it significantly more difficult for unauthorized persons to intercept it. Similarly, to queries sent to GIZ by email, queries transmitted using the contact form are deleted following a 12-month retention period.
Other web-based services
When you use other web-based services that require the submission of more extensive personal data, e.g. registration for workshops or job fairs, the data protection declarations adapted to those services will also apply.
Recipients of personal data
Within the GIZ, those persons that need your data in order to perform our obligations will be given access to your data. Service providers employed by us and persons employed by us in the performance of our obligations may also receive data for these purposes, provided that they comply with data protection obligations.
We will only disclose information about you to third parties if this is required by statutory provisions, if you have given your consent or if we are entitled to disclose such information for other reasons.
If you need further information, please don`t hesitate to contact us.
Duration of data retention
Personal data are regularly deleted when they are no longer needed for contractual purposes (e.g. for employment, top-ups, rental, sale or service contracts) or activities (e.g. workshops, trainings)
when the individuals concerned have not given any separate authorization when statutory data storage obligations and periods have expired.
Protection of minors
Persons under the age of 16 may not transfer any personal data to us without the consent of their parents or legal guardians.
Reference to user rights
Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You may revoke your consent at any time with future effect. An informal email making this request is sufficient. The data processed before we receive your request may still be legally processed.
You are entitled to:
object to data processing
enquire about your personal data and its processing
have this corrected if necessary, or to request restriction of processing or the erasure of the data.
The data will then be erased.
If you have any questions or complaints about this website, please contact the GIZ data protection officer (see contact information provided above). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible data protection supervisory authority. The responsible authority in this case is the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).
